The Power of Arts to Transform Human Relations
A Convening of Women Artists and Public Servants
This August 3-7, 2020, Women Forward International (WFI) will bring together women artists with international dignitaries from around the world in Louisville, Kentucky.
WFI is a global platform for systemic change in international affairs education, reorienting research towards the principles of unity, collaboration, and service. We create unique partnerships that lead to behavioral changes that advance women to advance humanity.
As part of our week-long program in Kentucky, WFI will partner with local organizations such as the Commonwealth Theater Center, Muhammad Ali Center, and the Center for Interfaith, to bring together artists with public servants to share, understand, and overcome perceptions of difference. This year’s WFI artists will come from the State of Qatar and Afghanistan. Through performance, group study, and expert discussion on current events, this program will reveal the power of art to transform consciousness about human relations.
Commonwealth Theater Center has commissioned award-winning Arab-American playwright, actor, and poet Denmo Ibrahim as their writer to synthesize the stories and perspectives shared in the summer program into the creation of two new scripts––a touring musical that will reach students across Kentucky; and a world-premiere play on themes of human unity and cultural connection.
With the current widespread intolerance for diverse populations and cultures in the United States, Women Forward International will bring its mission to move the next generation of leaders towards unity, collaboration, and service, to the Midwest.
