Women Forward International partnered Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley with the White Pony Express (WPE) to uplift women in California, and then partnered WPE and the Association of Vegan Entrepreneurs of Mexico to create a manual in Spanish to replicate the program in Mexico.

WFI then partnered WPE with the Autonomous Metropolitan University of Mexico and the University of Veracruz to launch a food rescue program for women and girls in Veracruz.

This year, we are replicating the program in Oaxaca and Mexico City with the Autonomous Benito Juárez University and UNAM!

Wings of Love is Spreading!

Women Forward International (WFI) partnered the Autonomous Metropolitan University of Mexico and White Pony Express, in collaboration with TC Energy, to launch Wings of Love in Veracruz—a pioneering food security initiative in Mexico. WFI partners with organizations such as the White Pony Express that are templates for global transformation and provides grants and student teams to amplify and replicate their missions on a global scale.

After four years of WFI's funding the White Pony Express's visits to Mexico and partnerships with three universities, its “Circle of Giving” model is spreading rapidly!

In 2026-2027, our student led teams are continuing to build the program in Oaxaca and launching it in Mexico City!

More than a food rescue program, Wings of Love is a new model of philanthropy—one that focuses on "all of us helping all of us," per the White Pony Express founder's motto. It brings us together as one human family to help women and their families and communities move from the margins to the mainstream.

Our impact:

  • 6,164 kg of food rescued, supporting 50 women and their families across two communities.

  • 2 women earned their IVEA primary education certificates.

  • 16 women are enrolled in PROMUJER's digital job skills training—a key step toward economic empowerment.

  • Program expanded to Oaxaca and Mexico City, building on the success in Veracruz.

On June 22, WFI and the 50+1 Women’s Collective Oaxaca co-hosted the launch event Race with a Cause: Wings of Love, collecting over 1,500 kg of food for families in the community of El Jardín. (More details in our event section)

WFI collaborates with the Oaxaca Food Bank, 50+1 Women’s Collective, La Guelaguetza Rotary Club, and the Faculty of Accounting at the Autonomous University of Benito Juárez of Oaxaca. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we have begun regular monthly distributions of food and supplies, often supplementing our deliveries with items that would specifically help women and their families move from the margins to the mainstream.

About Women Forward International (WFI):

With programs across four continents, Women Forward International (WFI) builds creative partnerships that bridge mind and heart to bring about unity, collaboration, and service to humanity. WFI pairs teams of graduate students with in-country organizations to complete action-oriented research and implement innovative solutions, making student research and innovation matter. WFI’s partnerships encompass a range of private sector, academic and non-profit clients to identify research critical to human progress. These projects include empowering women artisans in conflict zones, enabling sustainable farming with gender equity, and taking steps toward the elimination of hunger along with inclusive access to education through digital and other unique platforms. WFI also channels the transformative power of Art, when inspired with love, to bring about human unity. All research also goes to WFI’s chief partner, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), for a resource library of best practices.
