Crafting Resilience in Times of War:

Ukrainian Craftswomen in Displacement

Larisa Pastuchiv

Pastuchiv's music inspired and gave new meaning to our program with Sciences Po and Nest to uplift Ukrainian women refugees and artisans in Europe: Crafting Resilience in Times of War

"I started playing bandura as a child, performed in the NY area with the NY School of Bandura-Playing; studied music theory & composition at Marlboro College, Vt, composed for bandura and have been performing professionally in the Washington DC area for many years, including the Smithsonian & Library of Congress; Ukrainian Folk Festivals, International Folk festivals, fundraisers for Ukrainian orphans; other request from Ukrainian embassy. Check out my newly released CD entitled DREAMING on cdbaby.com."

The history of the hauntingly beautiful Ukrainian national instrument, the bandura, is shared by WFI Board Member and Executive Director of the Women's Foreign Policy Group, Alexa Chopivsky. Larisa Pastuchiv plays at WFI's fall 2022 event Weaving a Path to Peace.
